About Barbara

Annette Pinto
Barbara Rothberg received her MSW in 1975 in Clinical Social Work and her DSW, doctorate in Social Work, in 1984. Her dissertation on Custody Mediation addressed the complex issues of joint custody. With an early interest in family therapy, she completed a three-year Post-Master's Program at the Hunter School of Social Work in 1980, specializing in couple treatment. Throughout the years, Barbara has trained at the Ackerman Institute and The Family Institute of Westchester. After completing mediation training at the Institute For Mediation and Law Barbara has developed a practice in divorce coaching. Recently, she has been influenced by Buddhist traditions of meditation and mindfulness and has been integrating these concepts into all of her work.

In addition to 25 years in private practice, she has taught Couple Therapy courses to graduate students at both Hunter and NYU Schools of Social Work for 20 years, and has facilitated workshops and seminars at agencies and conferences on various topics. Along with a therapy practice, Barbara works as a Divorce Coach and a Child Specialist as a member of the New York Association of Collaborative Professionals.

The many years of working and learning have enabled Barbara to uniquely work with each individual in a singular and creative manner.
